Majority of university students oppose abortion – KSU survey

first_img <a href=’;cb={random}’ target=’_blank’><img src=’;cb={random}&amp;n=ab2c8853&amp;ct0={clickurl_enc}’ border=’0′ alt=” /></a> A study carried out by the University Students’ Council found that a majority of university students oppose abortion.The Council published the findings of its survey on Monday in which 58.4% of 733 who participated in the survey said they were against the legalization of abortion in Malta. While 41.6% said that they are in favour.The findings of the survey were adopted by the Council, with the Council stating that given the results, the students are therefore against the legalization of abortion. The report was prepared by the students who were assisted by Professor Liberato Camilleri.The survey was carried out online with 733 out of 11,000 students taking the survey. The study’s margin of error is therefore 3.5%.Out of the 733 participants, two thirds were female respondents.92% of the respondents said that they are against abortion during the last three months of the pregnancy, while 84% said that abortion should remain illegal during the fourth to the sixth month of pregnancy. 44.7% said that abortion should be legal during the first three months of pregnancy being non invasive against 55.3% who said that is should remain illegal.The survey also found that 44.6% said that they are totally against abortion in case the child has any form of disabilities.13% said that they strongly disagree with abortion in case the mother’s life was in danger, while 8% said that they disagree and 16.6% were neutral on the matter. 40.5% said that they strongly agreed with abortion in the case when a mother’s life is endangered.Download full report: WhatsApp SharePrintlast_img read more
