Their goal? Ending childhood hunger.The first-ever Barre Hunger event will benefit Secret Meals for Hungry Children, an organization helping children who have difficulties getting enough to eat when school’s not in session. Each child in need can be provided enough food for every weekend during the school year for $140, and the event will be offering 100 percent of the proceeds toward Secret Meals.Pure Barre, located at 1520 Mcfarland Blvd. N. in Tuscaloosa, is hosting Barre Hunger Friday at 1:15 p.m. and again Sunday at 5:15 p.m.Tickets cost $20, and includes the class, socks and refreshments from Juice Bar. Pre-registration is required, and you can purchase tickets right here.“This student group’s Barre Hunger event is so different and exciting,” said Alabama Credit Union’s Community Involvement Coordinator Amanda Burns. “We are so thankful that Pure Barre is sponsoring this event and helping spread the word about childhood hunger.”Alabama Credit Union is a sponsor of Secret Meals.In addition, Pure Barre is the site of a silent auction this week. Customers or anyone who wants to bid can visit and bid on items like gift baskets, spa services, gift cards and clothing items. Winners will be contacted Sunday.
