Work to close onemile section of Columbia River Highway

first_imgA restoration project will close a milelong section of the Historic Columbia River Highway on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge next month, according to state transportation officials.The work will close the highway starting Sept. 4, continuing through the end of the month, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The road will be closed to all vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians between Crown Point and Latourell Falls, according to ODOT. The stretch from Crown Point to Larch Mountain Road will also be closed to vehicles longer than 25 feet.Vista House, which sits atop the Crown Point summit, will remain open through September. But the historic building will close Oct. 1 until the end of 2012 while crews repair and restore the viaduct surrounding it, according to ODOT.
