Punjab CM announces Rs 5 lakh reward for Harmanpreet

Amarinder Singh today announced a cash reward of Rs five lakh for Harmanpreet Kaur for her performance that steered India to the finals of ICC Womens World Cup. The chief minister conveyed this to Harmanpreets father, Harmandar Singh, whom he called up to congratulate, an official spokesperson said here. The CM also told Harmandar if his daughter was still keen on a government job, he would look into a change in the sports policy of the state to provide the same to her. The previous Parkash Singh Badal government had denied a job to Harmanpreet, Amarinder alleged.Flaying the Akali governments blunt dismissal of Harmanpreets request for a police job when she was just starting her career, the chief minister told Harmandar that he would look into the matter. The Chief Minister lauded Harmanpreets score of 171 not out of 115 balls in the semi-final against Australia. Wishing the best to Harmanpreet for the final match between India and England, the Chief Minister hoped that she would continue to make the country proud with her continuing brilliance.
